Germs-a-go-go!

So, I'm finally in the land of the living - the sniffles have subsided, the cough has left town and my throat is back to normal swallow-ability, I'm my all-singing, all-dancing Pink Thinkin' self - yay me!

'Xcept now The Man has it.
Really badly.
Obviously, what with him being a man and all, he's got it a million fazillion times worse and what's worse is, he's being very demanding.
This does not a happy Lisa maketh.

When I was poorly, I would just haul my bee-hind from my bed to the sofa with a bottle of Lucozade, a pack of lockets and a toilet roll and watch back-to-back SATC. I was snotty, yes, but bothersome to others? I was not.
This is not a concept The Man understands.
Y'see, I am not a nurse. While I may of wanted to have been one at the age of 6, at that age I wasn't entirely aware of all that being a nurse actually entailed, as soon as I was, this was firmly crossed of my 'wannabee' list. Which is why, at the age of 20-something, I am more than hesitant to be running round after a snotty-nosed boyf.
I am not entirely awful. I have been to the shops and bought lemsip, lockets, paracetomol, lucozade, special mansize tissues (because at times of illness, boys need to be reminded of their masculinity) and made him both lunch AND dinner two days in a row. The latter is pretty huge as I don't usually do the cooking, so you see how lucky he is?
Unfortunately, the one thing he wants most, I am just not capable of giving him.
Sympathy.
I just don't do it.
I sympathise that he has germs, I know how awful it is coz I've had 'em for the past 2 weeks , but I can't do that whole 'coo, poor you, coo' thing, it's just not in my genetic make-up.

Which is why, and this may be wrong, I've locked myself away in my pink room and turned up my 'Ultimate Boybands' cd to full blast. He has everything he needs and is currently watching season 6 of The West Wing, I just can't deal with the puppy dog eyes and innsesant random poorly noise makin' that he seems to be foing on a 10 minute basis.

I'm really hoping he feels well enough to come to the PJ party tomorrow night, we've both been so looking forward to it! Our task was to make pass-the-parcels.
So, I've been into town today to buy coolio-a-go-go pressies to fill them up with - there are a multitude of treats to be had.
I did buy some retro My Little Pony stickers to put in there but I'm not sure anyone else will appreciate them as much as me so I'm keeping them for myself! I know, I know, sure fire sign of an only child! I do have lots of other fabulous-o presents though, with some killer main prizes - can't tell you what they are just incase my fellow PJ wearin' party people are reading - see? I take my role as parcel maker very seriously!
I'm also really hopin' Vix has got Singstar Legends for Christmas - that will really be just the bestest!

Right, I'm off to edit the 2nd book and I'm really going to do it today, not just say that I am, like I have for the last two days running.
Me bad.

Boo.
I should be in Londinium today looking at the 2nd book of pink fabulousness and partaking in a lil cocktail drinkin' with the coolest ed-girl in editorsville, xcept the snots have turned into an all singin', all dancing carnival of germs - I've got a swollen face, redder-than-rudolf nose, I can't swallow, have a cough that sounds like I smoke 60 a day - I don't, smoking is bad, I sound ridiculous and it feels like my head might explode, which is why I'm not going to try and even function my highly medicated brain right now so instead, yet again, I've nicked Sam's quiz...

T'was the week before Christmas and...
I have germs.

This is nothing new. As I am officially a mucus makin' monster.
Despite taking 3 vitamin C pills a day, eating oranges and drinking lots of water, once again I'm a poorly girl. I've got an ear, nose and throat infection that is causing serious suckerfercation.

I am however, consoling myself with: images of the newly single Adam Brody – messy haired, boy-shaped fabulousness - could the dude be any cuter? Gwen Stefani's new album, The Sweet Escape and a bumper copy of Grazia magazine.

I'm also tempted, in my 'feeling sorry for self' state, to open the Christmas pressie that Swanks gave me today.
It's from the supes swanks stationer, Smythson and is in a tres adoreable package that is simply fantastical in itself, if there were to be nothing inside it wouldn't matter, it's that dee-lish! I'm not going to open it though, it's under the tree looking all goregeous.

To add to my personal 'get well soon' regime that I'm creating, I received the best snail mail today – miss Sabine who is queen of the customised mailage has sent me a crimbo/book parcel of pink gorgeouisity! Sorry miss Sabine, but I couldn't resist opening it and it has officially made me a whole lot better - Not only did I get a christmas card and a good luck book card, Sabine had made me a bee-youu-tiful bracelet to match my birthday pressie and sent me a pink glass heart which is now my official good luck charm for all things book!

On the subject of books and post, the fabbo peeps at Simon&Shuster in Americano have sent me an advanced reader copy of Rachel Cohn's new book, Cupcake today too! I cannot wait to finish up for Crimbo so I can read it! If you haven't read any of Rachel's books I totes recommend them, especially Gingerbread - she's awesome! I'm hoping to score an interview with her writer-girl self for www.pink-world.co.uk in the new year, I shall try not to gush.

The website is gonna be rockin' and rulin' on Jan 3rd, once you've got your hands on a copy of Think Pink come on over to the site and join the pink parade - there will be interviews with some too-cool-for-school chicas, some killer goodies to give away, news of my interpipe tour and your chance to become a Pink Lady - put it in your diaries now!

Have I told you how much I'm looking forward to my new favourite programme, 'Ugly Betty' starting in the new year? I haven't seen it yet, but my Americano friends tell me
it's every kinda wonderful and having seen the recent trailers, I just know I'm gonna love it, oh I love me a fabulous TV show that I can become totes obsesso over!

Back later, have some serious nose blowin' to do, and that ain't attractive!

Go Leona!
I was out last night, which meant I missed X Factor.
Boo.
Thank the stars then, for ITV2, which means I can watch it tonight, like now - yay!

Leona is totes fabulous-o. She is also proof that you don't need to be a bitch to be a successful. She rules.
Thing is, I'm worried.

As much as I dig the X Factor, they do have this ability to make good things, well...a lil' bit poo.
Take Shane.

Not only cute to look at, he was so capable of being a kick-ass, Justin Timberlake-esque respectable muso dude.
Instead, the X Factor power types - Simon Cowell et al. - were in such a rush to make money out of him that they simply filled an album with covers and half-assed ballads just to get it out on the shelves, instead of taking time to nurture his unquestionable talent.

Which is why, in a funny kinda way, I didn't want Leona to win.

I'm thinking they might wanna just try and make her a diva before her time and she is so much better than a Whitney cover act.
She's totes talented and there will be killer producer types queuing to work with her, if those power types knew what was good for their bank balances, for Leona's career and for our eardrums, they should take time out, work with her and make her superstar fabulous.
That's all I have to say on the matter.
Oh, except for the fact Take That have just joined Leona.
Happy, happy days.

I went to Christmas lunch at my Mumma's house today.
She goes away for Xmas, so we have our Christmas this weekend instead.
It was a dee-lish dinner, I also showed off my book - everyone coo-ed and ahhed at it's beauty, I blushed a bit.
My mumma is a teacher type and she works in a school on the council estate I grew up on. On Friday she worked with some young girls who don't have mums and Christmas will undoubtedly be tough for them,so she organised a pampering session with manicures and lots of glitter and sparkles and she said they loved it!
My mumma rocks.
She also said how, after Christmas, they usually ask the children in their English lesson to write a list of their Christmas presents and their Christmas experience, but she's not going to do it this year as she's been made aware of how many children in her class won't have a great Christmas and won't receive any presents, compared to their class mates with the spankin' new Nintendo AND stupidly expensive random nonsense that will be tossed aside on boxing day.
That made me sad.
I'm not good at this Christmas lark, and that's one of the reasons why.

I am, however, all about the new year.
I'm spending it with some of my favourite people at a slumber party - we're gonna eat buffet food, play pass the parcel, wear our slippers and pyjamas and best of all? We're gonna play singstar til our throats go sore - ohmystars, it's going to be fabulous!

I had good monday mornin' vibes when I woke up earlier and they've lasted all day, which is really rather good innit?

I'm still thinkin' 'bout that film. Have I mentioned how much I loved The Holiday yet?

I'm also still thinking about the book I finished up last night. Remember I told you 'bout the amazing Hilary Carlip who I've now taken to stalking, opps, I mean, diggin' on? Well her book 'Queen of the Oddballs' blew me away.
Did I tell you she sent it to me personally? Not that I'm one to name drop or anything. Ahem.
Seriously though, the woman rock n' rules. I'm gonna move to Hollywood and become her new BFF. Fact.

The book is for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider.
Hilary is the result of someone who completely embraced her oddballness and has used it to become a kick ass author, scriptwriter, web designer, pop starlet, teen expert, 80's film star, she's even appeared on blimmin' Oprah!
The book really resonates with me, well, apart from the fact Hils lives in Hollywood and all, but her story is totally inspiring and was the complete butt-kick I needed after a weekend feeling a lil bit sorry for myself!

So instead of seeing The Holiday again, (I'm going tomorrow instead!) I decided to do some work towards my plan for pink domination, I interviewed some fab people for the new pink-world website, I composed some questions for my new BFF Hilary Carlip, did I tell you she sent me mail? Chased some fab giveaways - it's all been mucho fun...

Chevverchops has just written in her blog that there is such a thing as white chocolate buttons - why do I not know about this items of dee-lishessness? I will march her to a shop first thing tomorrow in order for her to prove that such treasure exists!

The man and I have been having some moving/house type issues and while all is exciting in Think Pink world - not too many sleeps 'til release day now! - the housey borin' snorin' stuff is starting to make us both a lil bit messy and stressy with each other.

So... in order to save him a stint in the boyfriend cupboard and me getting shouted at for y'know, breathing...today, the man and I decided to go to the cinema and see The Holiday.

NEW FAVOURITE FILM ALERT!

Ohmystars, j'adore.

I cried after 10 minutes in, and only really stopped to laugh out loud at Jack Black, who is really, really funny.
It's just beee-yoou-tiful.
Kate and Cameron are equally as awesome and I even felt my heart melt a little for Jude Law.
Only a little though, he's a bad man.

It's a funny, clever and poigniant film and is better than Bridget Jones.
There, I said it.
And I LOVE Bridget Jones.

I'm going to see it again tomorrow because I was so sad that it was over - I'm also gonna ask Miss Sally, Swanks and Chevverchops if they're free on Tuesday to go watch it again - I'm going to go every night of the week!

It seems I am without a social life.
Boo.
The man is going for a work do in the middle of nowhere, and eveyone else seems to have work-related Christmas functions or just have plans that don't involve me, how rude.
So it seems tonight, I'm all about the X Factor and a bag of white malteasers.
It could be a whole lot worse, right?

My prediction is Leona to win, Ben second and Ray to go star in a pantomine version of Cinderella very soon. I won't be voting though, I lost interest in the whole ringing in thing when I couldn't save Eaton Road.
I still heart them mostest.

Anyway, while I watch the Xtra Factor - like I say, no social life - I have yet another Q&A thingy - yay!

If I had to be stuck in a lift with either David Gest or Michael Jackson, I'd choose...
Holy Focaccia - it has to be David Gest - he is a legend.
Fact.

The person who would play me in a film of my life would be...
Kelly Osbourne - she would be too cool for school!

My X-Factor audition song would be...
Coco-cabana - Barry Manilow - I'd shimmy myself silly!

The celebrity I would most like to get drunk with is...
Lauren Laverne. I heart her.

Britney should...
stop hangin' with Paris. She bad.

Prada or Primark...
Primark, I love me the Primark!
Although if I were ever in a position to afford Prada, I'd like to think I could wear both and work them equally as well!

The most fabulous item in my wardrobe is...
Are my two pairs of pink-sparkly shoes from Primark!

Ugg boots are...
Like wearing slippers outside - they ain't pretty but they sure are comfy!

My TV dinner of choice is...
Sweet and sour chicken and a huge portion of seaweed, oh wait, actually it's Pud Thai - that's my new favourite

The last three things I bought on my credit card were...
Tix for Swanks and I to go see Rufus Wainwright in February, Clinique products in Debenhams so I could get the freebie brush set and a train ticket to London

If I were Prime Minister I would...
make Friday nights, Singstar nights - the word would be a better place.

Oh, I got asked earlier, via emailage, 'bout my NanNoWriMo project.
Me bad.
I better own up now, I didn't meet the 50,000 wd target - I got to 38,000 - I don't actually think it's going to be anymore words than that, so technically I have met my target!
It's been put in the drawer 'til after Christmas now, where I'm hoping that the editing fairies will sprinkle pink sparkles of fabulousity and make it a masterpiece, coz right now...
well, right now, it is not.
So, I had yesterday off.
I think the dream team at my publishers will be mucho pleased NOT to receive Lisa mail for one whole day.
I think, actually I know, that I have been super keen-o girl in my sending of 'so, we could do this...' or 'What happens if..' emails...

I'm working all weekend on deadlines, so yesterday was Christamas shopping day - oh and a bit of pampering too, well, it would be rude not to really wouldn't it? I am a total internet shopping girl, so most of my presents have been bought from the comfort of my sofa but there were a few that needed a little more attention.
The shops were heaving.
I'm so not bah-humbug about Christmas, in fact I heart the lights and prettiness of it all mostest, but people get so grumpy - hello, it's Christmas, season of good cheer and all that, NOT the season of pushing me out the way to get served.
Beside the pushing and shoving, I was all done in relatively good time allowing for some serious waxing, eyebrow shaping and new hair-do makin'.

Once again, Mark the hairdresser was too-cool-for-school.
He'd been to see Dita Von Teese a couple of weeks before, so we were discussing her for like, forever. I'm not sure who was crushing on her most, me or him.
I heart Dita so I was a crazy shade of envy green bout missin' out on seeing her, he said I could tag along next time she's over here - he's got contacts y'know. I would very much like that.
I once again have the cutest, most flattering hair-do in hairdoville to make sure I'm the cutest version of me for the festive season and after some serious waxing and a little bit of pain - scrap that - a whole lot of pain, I'm now a fuzz-free Lisa - wohhoo.
Do you know what I love most about getting waxed? When you climb into your bed with freshly-washed sheets and you slide about because you're hairless - that's what I did last night and it was blissful. That was after a night of dizzy water and yummy food at a friends house - mmm.

I don't think I've shouted about how much I love the new TT album yet...I love it!
Shine is my stand-out track. It makes me march.
I love to march.
I used to be a majorette AND I was in a marching band, that's how much I love to march.

My Pops taped the' Audience with Take That' while I was away and I loved that too.
So much so I've watched it twice.

Bee-yoou-tiful cont.

So, in my celebration of all things bee-yoou-tiful, I can't believe I forgot to celebrate my new sparkly-pink ballet pump shoes - they are tres jolie!
They're from Primark and so damn pretty, I bought two pairs.

My book is still bee-yoou-tiful and no, I still haven't read it, but it's deffo prettylicious.

The fact that I get up earlier than the man which means I get the chocolate from the shared advent calendar - wohoo!

Wednesday, December 06, 2006

This week has been bee-yoou-tiful.
Of course, there are always little things that could become huge, black clouds if you were to let 'em, the trick is to not let them, because when you don't, and you celebrate the fab stuff, life is bee-yoou-tiful.
Fact.

Fr'instance....

I worked from home yesterday as I had a document to finish for my Tuesday job, being at home meant I missed hanging out with my favourite ladies in the office, Chevverchops and miss Sally, but it did mean I got work done. I got the cutest email from the lovely miss Sally who said how rude and wrong it was I wasn't there.
Cute.

I met with a friend who greeted me with pink flowers, he was in a playful mood and we were running down the street and people were looking and it didn't even matter because my friend has had some tough stuff going on recently, so to see him so super smiley was cuteness personified. We then drank continental hot chocolate at my very favourite chocolate cafe.
I love my friend.
I love this cafe.
I really love this new-found hot chocolate.
It's not even drinkable, you have to scoop it out. It's heaven right here on earth. If I never have another hot chocolate in my life it wouldn't matter. It's that dee-lish.

I also had some sweet, sweet news that made my heart swell as big it could possibly stretch.
Two people who I totes adore, met.
I didn't set them up or anything they met in a club, but they are both so beautiful inside and out that they were always destined to meet. I look forward to following their progress minus any meddling from me, even though I'm totes bursting-at-the-seams to shoot cupid arrows at both of them and for them to live happily ever after, because they both deserve the very best.

I hopped on a bus to town today and it was my favourite driver, she is always so happy and smiley and really loves her job.
I love those people mostest.
She had decked out her bus in crazy Christmas atire. It all flashed and sang carols, including her waistcoat and it made me smile a huge grin.
Everyone that got on the bus smiled, everyone we passed as we drove by smiled, it was officially the smile bus.

I had lunch with the Vix, who despite pooey house stuff is still the sparkliest, most gorgeous person to hang with. I showed her my book of pink lovliness, I've only got one copy so I get really worried 'bout getting fingerprints and stuff on it - she gushed and then threatened to bend the page corners. Boo.

I'm such a Monica when it comes to books.
I could never write in a book, I could never bend the corners of pages and I could never eat and read just in case I got sticky fingers on it, that's how much I love books.
We ate cheesy chips - oh, how I love the cheesy chips.
Not as much as chocolate, but quite a lot. I do eat fruit too y'know, but nobody cares 'bout how great an apple tastes do they?

FYI: My life is not all about the cafes and lunches, y'know.
Honest.

Anyway, these are just a few of the bee-yoou-tiful things that have happened this week and look, it's only Wednesday! I've still got a haircut booked with my favourite hairdresser on Friday to come yet - happy, happy days.

The man took me to Eurodisney, Paris.
After my initial foot stompin' regarding the whole 'Eurotunnel thing' and many words of wisdom regarding boys and their lack of girl knowledge from both Miss Sally and ed-girl L, I decided to Think Pink and concentrate on the positive...I was going to Eurodisney - wohooo!

I have hearted all things Disney and everything it represents since I was a kid. That whole 'when you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are, anything you're heart desires, will come true' has always been huge for me... that's why I bagged me my own Prince Charming and have a pink-filled life with fabulous-o friends and dream job - just need to get my stuff moved into that pink princess castle and I'll be sorted...
Prince Charming however, as magical as he can be, is also heavy on the cynicism and was happy to tear the place apart before we even got there. After a severe talking to about the power of positivity, he conveniently remembered the trip was about me...

It was so brilliant.
We were all about the Disney Studio on the first day and at 9am we found ourselves riding the Aerosmith rock n rollercoaster - I loved it! I've always avoided scary rides as a rule but the man didn't give me time to think about it, I'm gutted because it was the best and I wanted to run back round and go again! Who knew I was an adrenalin junkie? We later went on to ride Thunder Mountain and my personal favourite, Space Mountain which shoots you out a cannon and you fly through space - so cool.

Entering Disneyland is a magical moment. It must be crazy for kids, because I even got a bit teary seeing the princess castle for real. As the man and I walked down the main street it started to snow, I got a bit teary then too, that was until the man told me it was soap suds, he's such a buzz kill.

As much as it's all about the kids, the parentals need a lesson in magic. They were pushing and shoving in queues, shouting at their children ohhh, it made me mad!

We watched the light parade which was beautiful and when Tinkerbell turned the princess castle into a huge pink sparkly home of fabulousness on the disney horizon, those tears threatened to make an appearence for the third time that day. Happy tears though!

Highlights of the weekend included: riding rollercoasters, Mickey's Winter wonderland show, the princess castle, the stunt tram, cinemagique oh, I don't know, everything!

Bits I've edited out: the man and I arguing about him buying yet more cuddly toys (I'm not a cuddly toy kinda girl, he is however, a cuddly toy kinda boy and we seem to be amassing a collection of cuddlies that are taking pride of place on the living room DVD shelf - not cool), me getting a bit mad at the hotel receptionist who was trying to charge me for asking for an extra pillow - she didn't in the end, but she blimmin' tried to the cheeky minx!
