Change the world for a fiver

While I'm in a go-get-em girl, mood, let me bring your attention to the We Are What We Do project, www.wearewhatwedo.org, which inspires people to use their everyday actions to change the world. It also published a book entitled 'Change the World for a Fiver with a list of 50 suggestions.

Try the following or buy the book and try all 50!

Give your change to charity:
The next time you buy something for 95p or 99p, look around for a charity tin.

Take public transport:
A double-decker bus carries the same number of people as 40 cars. And it's going there anyway.

Use a mug not a plastic cup:
Every year vending machines in the UK dispense 3 billion polystyrene cups.

Turn off the tap whilst brushing your teeth:
Otherwise, this can waste up to 9 litres of water a minute or 26,000 litres of water per family, per year.

Smile and smile back:
It takes half as many muscles to smile as it does to frown. And it makes you and others feel twice as good.

It has just published its latest book 'Change the World 9 to 5'.

Now you can keep making a difference even at your desk, so no excuses office types!
